福井工業大学で英語を教えるALT（Assistant Language Teacher）の先生たちが、うるしの里会館にて漆器の体験をしました。
現役の職人に教えてもらいながら体験できます。
お椀、写真立て、コーヒートレー、手鏡など、数種類ある漆器の中から好きなものを選びます。
デザインは用意されているものの中から選んでもいいし、自分で考えてもOK。
絵筆で素材に絵付けをします。
漆かぶれの心配はしなくて大丈夫です。
こちらは、漆器に刃物で模様を彫り、その痕に金箔や銀箔を押し込む「沈金」（ちんきん）です。
完成したものは持ち帰ることができます。
体験してみての感想（英語）
My impressions are all positive. I really liked the whole experience. I liked that I could bring my family. This is great for families who want to do something creative together. You should put this on a Fukui site that focuses on family friendly events. This is good for elementary school aged kids and older.
The idea /of having a chance/ to carve a design onto a lacquerware product of my choice /was /interesting and /not something I had done before I thought this would be a fun experience, and it was.
After being shown through the building and seeing all different types of lacquerware displayed or in photographs on the walls /I was eager to start on my own lacquerware. After getting seated at the table with the correct tools for carving, we were given basic instruction for tracing or designing our own drawing to be on our lacquerware. This was done/ by drawing on a bit of paper on top of the lacquerware so that there was an imprint left on the plate. Then were given a chance to practice our carving, before moving on to carving along the imprint of our stencil on our lacquerware.
It was a very interesting and enjoyable experience and there were a lot of really beautiful paintings and carvings created by everyone.
